Privacy Policy

The short version
couldvebeenaprompt.com turns a question into a link. The question travels inside the link itself. There are no accounts and no database, and I never store your question. Because it's part of the URL, though, it passes through the places any web address does. Those places are listed below.
Where your question goes
- The link. Your question is written into the URL (
?q=…). Anyone you send the link to can read it, and so can anyone they forward it to. - Our host. The site runs on Vercel, which keeps standard request logs (URL, IP address, time) for a limited period, the way any web host does. That means those logs contain the question. I don't copy, export or analyze them.
- Link previews. When you paste the link into a messaging app, that app's servers (for example Apple, Slack or WhatsApp) fetch the page and its preview image to build the preview. That shows them the question. To draw emoji and non-Latin characters in the preview image, our server fetches the matching glyphs from jsDelivr and Google Fonts.
- The assistant you pick. Tapping Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity sends the question to that service, where their privacy policy applies. The Gemini button copies the question to your clipboard first, because Gemini doesn't accept a prefilled question.
To keep the preview from being used for phishing, phone numbers, email addresses and links are masked in it. The page itself shows your question exactly as written.
What the page itself does
- No cookies, no local storage, no analytics, no trackers, no ads.
- The only third-party request the page makes is for its typefaces, from Google Fonts, and that request carries our site's address, never your question.
- The Copy and Share buttons write to your clipboard or open your device's share sheet only when you tap them. The site never reads your clipboard.
- A rate limit on preview images records IP addresses briefly, to stop automated abuse.
What I don't do
- No accounts, no sign-in, no email collection.
- No selling, sharing or licensing of any data.
- The site is not directed at children under 13.
If you'd rather not
Don't put anything in a question that you wouldn't put in a URL. Anything you'd hesitate to text someone doesn't belong in the link either.
