Lantyrn · Updated May 26, 2026

The short version

Lantyrn is a fully offline app. You record a short voice note, the app reads the mood and turns it into a glowing orb — and every bit of that happens on your device. There are no user accounts, no servers, and no analytics. Nothing you create ever leaves your phone. The app works in airplane mode, by design.

Data you create in the app

Your check-ins — the orbs, their colors, and your history — are stored locally on your device in an on-device SQLite database. There is no cloud sync and no backend I operate, so I have no ability to see or recover this data. If you uninstall the app, this data is gone.

Voice notes & on-device processing

When you record a voice note, the audio is transcribed and analyzed entirely on your device using Apple's on-device speech recognition. The result is mapped to an orb. The audio and transcript are not uploaded anywhere — there is no network call involved at any point in this flow.

What the app does not collect

Notifications

Lantyrn does not send remote push notifications. Any reminders are scheduled locally on your device; no notification data leaves your phone.

Permissions

The app does not request camera, location, or contacts access.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and I do not knowingly collect data from them. (In practice, the app collects nothing at all.)

Your choices

Changes

If I change this policy, I'll update the date at the top and, for material changes, surface a notice in the app on next launch.
